 Social Security is the most successful and efficiently operated economic security program in the history of the United States. Unfortunately, from its inception in 1935, Social Security has been under attack from ideologically conservative and powerful individuals and organizations. At the current time, a political movement aimed at cutting benefits is gaining momentum.

SOS – Save Our Social Security is a coalition of Kansas and Missouri advocacy, social justice, and labor organizations with an interest in fighting for economic justice.

The mission of SOS is to work for the preservation and strengthening of Social Security benefits.

The SOS coalition is striving to provide the public with the truth about Social Security and to increase the commitment of elected representatives to protect, preserve, and strengthen benefits for disabled, elderly, and survivors.

SOS has two primary goals:

  1. To obtain commitments from all U.S. senators and representatives and candidates that they will vote to protect and strengthen Social Security benefits and to protect the program from privatization.
  2. To disseminate factual and truthful information
